Sandbanks is a redevelopment of a prime site in Bigbury On Sea offering stunning sea views taking in Agatha Christie's beloved Burgh Island. The five new maisonettes and two flats are of varying sizes from one to three bedrooms. The stepping site has allowed each unit a sea view and where appropriate the living accommodation has been switched to the upper floor to take advantage of this.
The gable fronted three storey main elevation pays tribute to the original building that occupied the site and allows an additional floor of accommodation to be located in the roof space. The detached unit to the rear has a highly glazed gable front allowing far reaching views from the first floor balcony accessed from the open plan living accommodation.
The palette of materials is sympathetic to the 'seaside' feel; in the use of natural slate roofs, cedar cladding, aluminium windows, galvanised steel rainwater goods and a 'through-colour' render system.
